Ishaan George is an Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi and admitted to practise before all courts in India. He specialises in constitutional, civil and commercial litigation, and advises on matters of regulatory compliance.
A graduate of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Mr. George began his career as in-house counsel with the Vedanta Group, before commencing practice under the guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.S. Narasimha, former Additional Solicitor General of India and presently a Judge of the Supreme Court.
He acts for public sector undertakings, corporate entities and private clients in matters of varied complexity and has appeared in several prominent proceedings, including mining litigation such as the Goa Foundation cases, the Common Cause litigation (Orissa) and Samaj Parivartana Samudaya (Karnataka). He was also part of the legal team representing India before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg, Germany, in the landmark Enrica Lexie case, which concerned jurisdiction, sovereign immunity and maritime law. Mr. George additionally serves as Panel Counsel to the Ministry of External Affairs.
